Exploring Intergenerational Linguistic Identity of Dhatki Speakers in Sindh, Pakistan

Pakistan is a multilingual country where seventy four languages are spoken (Siddiqui, 2019). English the official language, while Urdu used as common Lingua Franca; each province has its own provincial language (Sindhi, Punjabi, Pashto & Balochi). The policy of promotes dominant only; result indigenous becoming extinct and gradually on verge shift death in urban areas. Hence, maintaining linguistic identity such context pose serious challenges to speakers language. This paper explores Dhatki across three generations different districts Sindh. For this purpose, qualitative case study was conducted data collected using open-ended questionnaire responses were analyzed thematically.
